Doors and locks around Moraira: timber, gates and salt air
The villas between Moraira and Benissa have solid timber front doors, often iroko, with three- or five-point locks and a brass cylinder nobody has changed. After a wet winter the leaf swells, the top bolt misses its keep, and the owner who has just flown in forces the key until it will not turn either way. We open through the cylinder without marking the timber; if the door needs easing, our carpenter comes on a separate visit.
Gates come next. Every plot has a pedestrian and a vehicle gate, and in Cap Blanc, Benimeit and on the Benissa coast they face the sea. The rim locks rust from the inside and the key turns on nothing. We fit stainless steel locks and leave the manual release on motorised gates working.
Then the flats and holiday lets around the seafront and Pla del Mar, where keys get lost on the beach and guests lock themselves out at midnight. On these aluminium doors a drilled cylinder leaves a scar, so we do not drill them.

- WhatsApp a photo of the lock, one of the whole door and your location pin. Benimeit, Moravit and Cumbre del Sol have unnamed lanes and plot numbers that do not follow the road.

Houses shut for months: why the lock fails the day you arrive
Most doors we open in Moraira are opened for someone who has just landed at Alicante airport: the villa shut since October, the brass cylinder sat through a damp winter near the sea, and the first turn of the key meets a wall. Forcing it snaps the key and turns a 40-60 € visit into an extraction plus a cylinder. If the key goes in but will not turn, stop and message us.
Three things stop it happening again: a nickel-plated anti-bump cylinder with a security card, from 35 € plus 40-60 € to fit; dry PTFE lubricant once a year, never oil; and someone in Moraira with a full set of keys who checks the house before you fly. If that is us, it comes under key holding, with photos before your arrival.

Yes. We need your written authorisation with proof of ownership, or the current key from someone local. We replace the lock, email photos and the invoice with IVA, you pay by bank transfer, and the new keys go to your neighbour against a signed receipt.
