Locked out in La Zenia: how the urbanisations work

La Zenia and its neighbours were built in the 1990s and 2000s as rows of bungalows and townhouses around a communal pool, with a pedestrian gate on the street and an aluminium or uPVC front door with a multipoint lock. The sea wind slams those doors behind people who stepped out to the bins or the pool.
